International Recruitment for Welders

Connecting Skilled Welders from the Philippines to Australia

Dizon & Associates recently led an international recruitment for welders project that connected skilled tradespeople from the Philippines with employers in Wollongong and regional Australia.

To identify the right talent, our team worked closely with a trusted partner in the Philippines to host a two-day testing and assessment event for 25 shortlisted candidates. The goal was simple: to find skilled, motivated tradespeople ready to step into opportunities in regional Australia.

Each participant took part in practical assessments designed to highlight their technical ability, attention to detail and readiness to meet Australian standards.

Thirteen Welders Chosen for Life-Changing Roles

From the group, 13 exceptional welders were selected for employment in Australia. When they were told the news, there were smiles, tears and a few moments of disbelief as the reality of what lay ahead began to sink in. A lighthearted reminder of the new chapter waiting for them on Australian shores.

The success of this project shows what can be achieved when compliance, collaboration and compassion come together – all for the benefit of both Australian employers and the people eager to contribute to their industries.

Partnership and Purpose at Every Stage

The event brought together two dedicated teams: one in Australia and one in the Philippines. Working together made it possible to assess candidates on the spot and complete the process efficiently while keeping full compliance at the forefront.

Helping Regional Employers Build Their Workforce

Automatic Visa Cancellation

A father came to Australia on a student visa together with his family. He then abandoned them and disappeared. A year later, without warning, the Department of Home Affairs automatically cancelled the visas of the mother and her three children.

Health Waiver (Autistic Child)

An IT professional had been working in Australia for 10 years. He had left his autistic child in the Philippines because his medical condition failed the health requirement. The risk in applying for the permanent visa was the “one fail, all fail” rule – his autistic child would result in the refusal of the whole family.

Health Waiver (Rare Blood Condition)

A beef processing farm in NSW urgently needed a Production Manager with meat manufacturing experience. We identified a highly qualified candidate who was soon offered the position with visa sponsorship. However, the process became more complex when it was discovered that his young son had a rare blood condition that did not satisfy the health requirements. We put forward a strong argument requesting a health waiver which involved demonstrating that the condition wouldn’t place undue demands on Australia’s healthcare system.

Case Study – Mining Industry

A company that supplies mining services in Western Australia were experiencing challenges in retaining mobile plant operators. Their workforce consisted of veteran staff and high turnover working-holiday people. The company engaged us to provide a migration solution and assist in recruiting experienced international workers.
