In November 2025, Paul Dizon visited Vancouver, engaging with occupational therapists and alumni at the University of British Columbia (UBC). The visit included a stop at the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre, where recent changes to Australia’s registration process for Canadian-trained OTs were a key topic of discussion.
The visit aimed to strengthen ties between Canadian institutions and Australian healthcare providers, and to provide clarity around the streamlined registration pathway now available to graduates of UBC, Dalhousie University, University of Ottawa, and Western University.

Canadian Universities Now Recognised for Fast-Tracked Registration
Graduates from the following Canadian universities are now eligible for full registration in Australia through a simplified process administered by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA):
- Dalhousie University (Nova Scotia) – MSc(OT) Entry Level
- University of British Columbia (UBC) – Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT)
- University of Ottawa – Master of Health Sciences in OT (MHSc)
- Western University (Ontario) – MScOT
This recognition marks a significant step in supporting international workforce mobility and addressing the growing demand for occupational therapists across Australia.
Real Employment Opportunities Through Australian Partnerships
Paul also shared updates on partnerships with Australian healthcare providers, confirming the availability of genuine employment opportunities for internationally trained OTs. These roles span both clinical and community settings, and include:
- Visa sponsorship
- Relocation support
- Competitive salaries
- Flexible 2026 start dates
